COPE Bylaws – As Adopted 3-31-2026

On March 31, 2026, the Illinois AFL-CIO Executive Board updated the COPE bylaws to:

• Clarify that COPE meetings are in person only and proxy voting is not allowed
• Clarify counting procedures regarding abstentions and present votes in endorsement recommendations
• Clarify language regarding Congressional District COPE committees and CLCs throughout to allow for current practice where some CLCs do not have COPE committees
• Remove outdated provisions that are no longer practiced, including annual reporting requirements from CD COPEs, requiring a security guarantee for membership materials, and fundraising requirements
• Updating dates
